The Kombi beam consist of an upper and lower beam tub. In the center of each Beam tub is a tapered Grub screw and locking nut and inside is a boss that matches the shape of the leaf pack.

Unlike the Type 1 beam adjusters which allow you to set pre load using a secondary bolt the type 2 Beam adjusters a ratchet style that only really allow you to use gravity to set and in principle are designed for lowering the bus more than lifting.

As you can see in the below picture you under the locking nut and that allows you to disconnect the two plates and realign them. The lower plate has a slot in it to allow movement. This sample is the Chinese junk as you can tell by the teeth. If you are going to do this install get the ratchet style with the directional teeth so it is stronger. The laid out set is a ratchet style teeth from Indian Automotive.

Inside the beam you will find the Center section that holds teh leaves and you simply cut it open and weld these on.

There are lots of tech articles on how to install them, just keep in mind in a Kombi, unlike a beetle you have a center idler arms to contend with. Below is an install PDF from Just Campers that covers the basic.

Once you have your adjuster installed you will be able to jack up your bus, under teh locking nut and grub screw, release the teeth engagement and then using an Allen key try and pre load the center as much as possible. When you will find here is that the bump stops will limit your movement but you will also find that lifting a bus this way will limit down travel and potentially give you aa harsher ride. You trailing arms will be on a harsher angle and your Ball Joints and boots will wear out quicker.
